Privacy at stay.
stay. is a companion for someone in cancer treatment. It holds what the clinic said, counts the days, and names when to call. This policy is short because the app does very little with your information: what you type lives on your phone, unless you turn on iCloud to keep an iPhone and an iPad in step.
The short version
- No stay. account. No sign-in with us. No server of ours holds your record.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no third-party data SDKs.
- Nothing you enter is sent to us.
- Optional iCloud (off until you turn it on) stores a copy in your iCloud so the same Apple ID keeps your iPhone and iPad in step.
- Deleting the app deletes the copy on that phone. Export a file first if you want one you hold. Restore — putting that file back into the app — is not shipped yet.
What the app stores, and where
Everything below lives in the app's private storage on your device. If you turn on iCloud on This phone, a copy of the same record (except who is holding this phone) is also stored in your iCloud, linked to your Apple ID — not on a stay. server:
- Your plan — the treatment regimen and dates you enter.
- Your log — nights, symptoms, medicines, food, drink, activity, mood, and journal entries you record.
- Papers — documents you lock in the app's vault, encrypted on the device with AES-256-GCM. The passphrase never leaves the phone, including when iCloud is on; only the locked blob travels.
- Visits and preferences — appointments you save and the settings you choose.
iCloud (optional)
On This phone you can ask stay. to keep this iPhone and iPad in step using the Apple ID already on both. That copy lives in your iCloud, not on a stay. server. It is off until you turn it on. Turning it off leaves what is already on this phone. Erasing this phone does not erase the iCloud copy unless you ask for that too.
Who is holding this phone — patient or caregiver — stays on that device.
Health data (Apple Health)
If you allow it, the app reads how long you slept and how much you moved, so you do not have to type those in. It never writes to Apple Health. Those readings stay on the phone unless you have turned on iCloud, in which case nights you have already logged travel with the rest of the record in your iCloud. You can revoke Health access at any time in the Health app.
Camera and photo library
If you choose, the app can read medicine names off a photograph of your discharge summary. The photograph is processed on your phone by on-device text recognition. It is not uploaded, stored, or sent anywhere.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. No notification passes through a server of ours.
When you choose to share
Information leaves the phone when you do it: the Keep a copy export and the standard iOS share sheet hand the file to whatever you pick — mail, messages, a drive. Optional iCloud is a separate choice, on This phone. The Keep a copy file is an export. The app cannot read one back in yet.
Deleting your information
Deleting the app deletes the copy on that phone. If iCloud was on, a copy may still sit in your iCloud until you erase that copy from This phone or from iCloud Drive. If you want a file you hold, use Need help → This phone → Keep a copy first.
Children
stay. is written for adults in treatment and their caregivers. It is not directed at children under 13, and it collects nothing from anyone.
Changes
If a future version of stay. changes any of this — for example, if a stay. server is ever offered — this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described here in plain language.
